Pastor Mark Ennis
Biographical Summary

Pastor Mark grew up in church and felt called to be a minister since before he was in school although at that time he could not articulate the term “call.” His church work began when he stood next to his grandmother as a greeter at church. His first communion service was celebrated when he was in kindergarten when he served communion to his stuffed tiger, using Ritz crackers and milk.  Communion was expanded to include baptisms and his stuffed tiger was baptized numerous times in the bathroom sink. He always knew that he would enter ministry and spent his early life preparing for this.

During his school years he had a variety of jobs; cleaning a dentist office, being a summer sexton at his church, a summer camp counselor, a waiter, cooks helper and a banquet catering manager. 

Pastor Mark has been an ordained minister since 1984 and has been the pastor of Clinton Avenue Reformed Church in Bergenfield, NJ since September of 2006. This is the third congregation that he has pastored. He is a graduate of Hope College in Holland, Mi and New Brunswick Theological Seminary in New Brunswick, N.J.

In addition, he has taken additional training in pastoral counseling and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at two separate hospital settings. In addition, he hold a certificate as a mediator with the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center.

Mark has most recently completed training as a Crisis Counselor and a Disaster Victim Chaplain for Bergen County and the State of New Jersey. He was one of the chaplains deployed at the opening of the National 911 Memorial Museum in New York City where he ministered to survivors, first responders and their families.

In this time of the Corona virus pandemic, he was a telephone counselor for the state of New Jersey, responding to calls from citizens who were anxious during the time of lockdown.

Pastor Mark’s first book, “The Circle of Seven; when his servants are weak,” was published in December of 2018.

His second book, “Out of the Wilderness: Honoring His Abusive Christian Father and Mother,” is expected to be published soon.

His hobbies include reading, writing, renovating his vacation cabin and doing background extra work for movies and television shows. His favorite hobby is playing with his three grandsons.
